Got Qeustions

Why another church?
Research shows that new church will bring 6-8 times more new people into the life of the Body of Christ than an older congregation of the same size. The bottom line is we have of people in our community who do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. And yet we have churches on every other corner… Knowing that we have 1000's of people in our community that are dieing and going to hell (even with churches on every other corner). The real question is why not another church???

Why a Hip-Hop Church?
Hip-Hop is not a fad that can be simply defined by a song or dance. It is a sub-culture that has been in existence for about 50 years. Whether we like it or understand it, this sub-culture has impacted young and old, professional and the street hustler. We are loosing this generation to the negative influeces that exist in this culture. This culture is impacting the world that we live in, so the real question is…WHY NOT HIP-HOP in the Church? We fully understand that such extreem measures to reach the hip-hop culture is against traditions that we have set in the church. However the Apostle Paul clearly outlines the idea that Christians are to take extreme measures to reach ALL for the Kingdom of God. Even the Hip-Hop Culture...

1 Corinthians 9:22 (NIV) To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.

The hip-hop culture is constantly being bombarded with the influence of violence, sex and greed, which makes it susceptible to falling prey to the enemy. It has become common among this culture to glorify riotous, promiscuous and unfruitful living while pursuing a lifestyle infested with deception and death. The gang population has infiltrated those engaged in the hip-hop culture and has in turn contributed to the brokenness of many lives.

The overwhelming cry from the hip-hop culture is “We do not feel like we fit in church”. This proclamation is a clear indication that we need to supply an environment that will speak the relevant language of this population and offer the transforming power and love of Jesus Christ. Most mainstream cultures have an opportunity be a part of a movement that is conducive to their worship and learning style, yet the hip-hop culture is, for the most part, untapped - leaving them vulnerable to fall into the traps of Satan.

We belive that it takes all kids of churches to reach all kinds of people. At the EDGE we have strategiclly designed our ministry to reach all walks of life and be inviting to those in the midst of hip hop culture. Once we have the honor of getting them in our midts, it is our intent to bring them in, sitting them down, raising them up and sending them out to reach others like them!!
